The Charlton Art Centre
Project Space
The project space sits within the Charlton Art Centre and provides a unique ‘Goldfish Bowl’ interactive space. The space has windows on two walls that enable the public to view work in progress and therefore introduces a performance element to artists’ work.
The space is the home of The White Cliffs Creative Guild (WCCG). The WCCG is a not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to promoting 'arts and crafts' activities in the Dover District and beyond. Launched in September 2007, and run by an elected committee. The White Cliffs Creatives' Guild is always delighted to attract new members. The majority of its member are self taught artists living in the Dover District. For more information you can visit their website http://wccg.org.uk.
The project space is approximately 6 metres wide by 10 metres long with clean wall spaces and a 10 metre projection length to the largest wall (6 metres wide by 2.5 metres high). Natural light is reflected into the space from the Art Centres large external windows and from the atrium windows adjacent to the project space. Shuttered doors provide access to the space for large works/equipment (there is also a service lift from ground level).
